About the TCAP TNReady

The Tennessee Comprehensive Assessment Program, branded as TCAP and commonly called TNReady for the math and ELA components, is the state's annual summative test for grades 3-8. TCAP math is built on the Tennessee Academic Standards for Mathematics, a state framework derived from Common Core after Tennessee's 2017 standards review. Reporting categories follow the Common Core domain structure, so Briveli's CC-aligned practice covers the content tested. The Tennessee Department of Education publishes annual blueprints and Item Sampler tasks that show students the exact item formats they will see.

TNReady math is delivered online through the state's testing platform, with paper accommodations available by request. Each grade takes the math test in two subparts of roughly 70-85 minutes each. Item types include multiple-choice, multi-select, drag-and-drop, equation editor, hot-text, and short constructed-response. Tennessee runs a separate fall TCAP retest window for some grades, but the spring administration is the one that drives accountability. Briveli's grade pages mirror the blueprint weighting so students do not over-prepare on minor clusters.

Score reports return one of four performance levels - Below, Approaching, Met, or Exceeded Expectations - along with a scale score and reporting-category subscores. Met or Exceeded is the on-track benchmark used in Tennessee's school accountability and the state's TVAAS growth model. TCAP results in grades 3-8 are used in promotion decisions in some districts and feed into school letter grades. Parents preparing with Briveli should focus on the Major Cluster standards each year, which carry the largest share of TCAP score points.
