About the SC READY

SC READY - the South Carolina College- and Career-Ready Assessments - is the state's annual math and ELA test for grades 3 through 8. The math test is built on the South Carolina College- and Career-Ready Standards for Mathematics (SCCCR-M), which are state-specific standards that revised the state's earlier Common Core adoption while retaining most of the underlying content. SC READY is delivered primarily online; paper-and-pencil is offered only as an accommodation. Each district sets its own testing schedule, but state policy ties the window to the last 20 instructional days of the school year.

Score reports place each student into one of four performance levels - Does Not Meet Expectations, Approaches Expectations, Meets Expectations, or Exceeds Expectations - with Meets Expectations being the on-grade-level threshold. In grades 3-5 the math test is given in a single session with no calculator. In grades 6-8 the test is split into a no-calculator section and a calculator section taken on the same day, with an embedded online calculator (basic four-function in grade 6, scientific in grades 7 and 8). Reports also include sub-scores by reporting category, so families can see relative strengths across number, algebra, geometry, and data.
