About the MAAP

The Mississippi Academic Assessment Program, or MAAP, is the state's annual summative test for grades 3-8 in math and English. The math test is built on the Mississippi College- and Career-Readiness Standards for Mathematics, a state-customized framework derived from Common Core. Reporting categories follow the Common Core domain structure, and the Mississippi Department of Education publishes a Test Specifications document that lists every Reporting Category, the percent of items it carries, and Depth of Knowledge targets. Briveli's CC-aligned grade pages cover the same Reporting Categories at the same emphasis.

MAAP math is delivered online through a state-managed platform, with paper accommodations only by request. Most grades take the math test in two sessions of roughly 65-75 minutes each. Item types include multiple-choice, multi-select, drag-and-drop, equation editor, hot-spot, and short constructed-response. The Mississippi DOE releases practice tests and an item sampler each year, and Briveli's question pool mirrors the test's mix of fluency, application, and reasoning items so students arrive familiar with the format.

Score reports return five performance levels - Minimal, Basic, Passing, Proficient, Advanced - and a scale score with category-level subscores. Proficient is the on-track benchmark used in Mississippi's accountability ratings, while Passing is the older state proficiency line still referenced in some reports. MAAP scores feed school and district letter grades under Mississippi's accountability model, so districts watch Proficient-or-above rates carefully. Families using Briveli for MAAP prep should weight time toward the Major Cluster standards for each grade.
