About the ATLAS
ATLAS is Arkansas's current statewide assessment, introduced in the 2023-24 school year to replace ACT Aspire. The Arkansas Department of Education's Division of Elementary and Secondary Education built ATLAS around the Arkansas Math Standards, a state-customized framework derived from Common Core. Math is tested annually in grades 3-8 and reports four performance levels. Because Briveli's curriculum maps to Common Core domains, the alignment to ATLAS is strong: students practice the same Operations and Algebraic Thinking, Fractions, Ratios and Proportional Relationships, and Expressions and Equations content that appears on the test.
ATLAS is delivered online through a state-managed platform and uses a wider mix of technology-enhanced item types than ACT Aspire did - including drag-and-drop, equation editor, hot-spot, and multi-part items. Test sessions are untimed within the school day window, but most students complete each math grade in about two sessions totaling 90-120 minutes. The state publishes practice tests, item samplers, and a released item set each year, and Briveli mirrors the same item style so students who practice on Briveli are not surprised by the interface on test day.
Score reports give a scale score, performance level, and reporting-category subscores that schools use for instructional planning. The four performance levels - In Need of Support, Close, Ready, and Exceeding - replaced ACT Aspire's older Ready/Exceeding scale. Arkansas uses ATLAS results in its ESSA accountability formula and school grading system, so districts watch Ready-or-above rates closely. Families using Briveli for ATLAS prep should focus on the grade-level emphasis areas published by the state in the Arkansas Math Standards Reporting Category Guide.
